In 2015-2016, Catholic Mission, Catholic Religious Australia and Catholic Earthcare Australia will host individual authors of The Francis Effect II book at public colloquiums across Australia. You are invited to come and participate in this opportunity to engage with Pope Francis’ encyclical on ecology and creation, deepen your understanding of his challenge for each of us to protect the earth, dignify humanity and restore God’s gift of creation.
Why should I attend?
Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’ - On Care of Our Common Home appeals urgently for “a new dialogue about how we are shaping the future of our planet… which includes everyone.” (LS14)
“The encyclical is addressed not just to the Catholic world or even to the Christian world, but to all people of any faith and no faith, ‘to all men and women of good will’.” Bernice Loch rsm President of Catholic Religious Australia
Don’t miss out on your chance to be a part of the discussion on how to incorporate Pope Francis’ vision and challenge into your everyday life, in your work and in your community.
The Church in Australia has great capacity to respond and act to protect our Common Home, to achieve a global ecological conversion, to heal damage done and build a harmony between our Creator, humanity and creation (LS66). We must "go forth boldly" (EG 261) and take steps to protect creation and care for our Common Home… and “cooperate as instruments of God for the care of creation, each according to his or her own culture, experience, involvement and talents.” (LS14)
This colloquium will assist you to explore this vision, offering inspiration and practical ideas for caring for our Common Home.
Who should come?
The Francis Effect II Colloquium is a unique opportunity for any Catholic wanting to gain practical insight into how we might take up Pope Francis’ challenge to become the generation of "humanity at the dawn of the twenty-first century [that] will be remembered for having generously shouldered its grave responsibilities" (LS 165).
It is for leaders within the Church and all those passionate about the mission imperative that calls us all to an ecological conversion to protect and care for all of creation.
Each participant will receive a copy of The Francis Effect II: Praised Be You – On Care for our Common Home, a book published by Catholic Mission, Catholic Religious Australia and Catholic Earthcare Australia in response to the Encyclical Laudato Si’ - On Care of Our Common Home.
